Festival international du film de Cannes takes place at Palais des Festivals et des Congrès on La Croisette, which is seen from the legendary red carpet. The most famous directors from Europe, America, Africa, Asia and Australia – the entire movie world comes here for Cannes Film Festival opening.

It is essentially European Oscar, perhaps, even more glamorous, well, it’s Cannes! After all, whereas Oscar days are known for their wide scope, the show is ruled here by exquisiteness, elegance and love of profound cinema.

Actually, the cinema year begins from Cannes, as the films selected by the Jury for the program become the favorites of the season and eventually compete for Oscar. The films are of top-level, and it is a great honor to be on the List.

Let’s get into the image of the 2016 Film Festival.

It is the 69th Festival in Cannes where the masters and the first-timers of cinema meet in the same venue. The Poster of this year is made in the spirit and style of Le Mépris by Jean-Luc Godard. This film is presented as a genuine work of art. The Film Festival founders love to teach the audience, presenting something new that makes people analyze, not only contemplate.

It is for the third time in a row that Festival management choose Woody Allen’s work as the opening film. This year the film master from New York presents a film about the Hollywood of the 1930s. Café Society is a romantic comedy-drama with Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart starring. They say that in this film Stewart is “absolutely different”, emotional and open. We are also in anticipation of unusual images to appear on the red carpet!

The jury of the 69-th Festival will be chaired by Mad Max director George Miller, Australia, who will pick out the winner.

For Miller, 2015 was the year of Renaissance, when he went great guns again and brilliantly revived his main brainchild, creation of all his life – Mad Max. It is remarkable that the ascent of the film started from Cannes- 2015, where Mad Max: Fury Road action film screened out of competition. Do you remember that the film in the truest sense of the word “blew up” Oscar- 2016?

As early as on April, 28 the Board of Directors unveiled information on Juries: for Feature Films, for the Cinéfondation and shorts, for Un Certain Regard and for the Caméra d’Or (operators work). A member of the latter is Alexander Rodnianskiy, a Russian producer, who is a discovery of the year for Jury composition.
The names of the members of the main Jury presided by George Miller were unveiled on April 26.

The Board of Directors of the Festival takes decision on the Jury composition and the Jury  determines the prizes at the Festival. The Jury members are leading masters of the world cinema: directors, actors, critics. The full team of the Cannes- 2016 Jury is as follows:  George Miller, Kirsten Dunst, Mads Mikkelsen, Valeria Golino, Arnaud Desplechin, Vanessa Paradis, László Nemes,  Donald Sutherland and Katayoon Shahabi.

There are also more awards: “Golden Palm” for short film and Caméra d’Or (“Golden Camera”) for best debut feature film. The main awards of Cannes Festival are “Golden Palm” and “Silver Palm”. Those who receive the prizes become a movie legend and get a pass to cinema Olympus!
